Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-10-27
Story Becomes makes short movies about the people you love, from what you tell us about them.
This policy says what we collect, why, who helps us make your movie, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted.
It covers storybecomes.com and your account at app.storybecomes.com.
Who we are
Story Becomes (“we” or “us”) is Trigger Point Systems (dba storybecomes).
We run storybecomes.com and app.storybecomes.com.
Our mailing address is 5151 California Ave, Irvine, CA 92617.
For a privacy question, write to legal@storybecomes.com.
For an order or your account, write to team@storybecomes.com.
What we collect
We collect your phone number, your email, your orders (what you bought and when you paid), your answers and photos, and how you browse the site.
We use your phone number to text you about your order and your account when you have agreed to texts, your email and your orders to run your account and send order updates, and your answers and photos to make your movie.
When you visit the site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device.
Additionally, as you browse the site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, the websites or search terms that referred you to the site, and information about how you interact with the site.
Additionally, when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, email address, and phone number, payment information through Stripe, and a shipping address if you ask us to ship a poster.
When you make a movie
- About the person the movie is for: how you know them, their name and how to say it, their age if you give it, and which pronouns to use.
- Your answers about them: last year’s gift, how the movie should feel, your message to them, a memory or a made-up story, and the little things they would recognize.
- Your photos: photos of them with the spot you tapped to show their face, photos from the memory with the lines you write under them, and photos of the little things.
- The look you pick for the movie.
- About you: your email and your phone number.
- If you choose them: notes for our editors, your name for the movie’s closing credit, a photo of you so we can draw you into the story, the first names for extra envelopes, the address to ship a printed poster to, and a recording of your voice.
When you make a movie for a child on our kids page
- About the child: their name and how to say it, how you know them, their pronouns, and their birthday (the month and year, and the day if you give it), from which we work out their age.
- What makes them them: the words you pick and write about them, their superpower or what they are proud of, their favorite things, the toy or pet they carry everywhere, and the people in their world, with the names and ages you give.
- For a movie that stars them: the hero, the world and the story idea you pick, and the occasion.
- For a movie that helps them with something: what it should help with, what they already know, where they get stuck and what they say then, where and when it happens, what you usually say, and the date of a big moment that is coming.
- About their school, if you give it: the school’s name, their grade, their teacher’s name, and what the class is learning, typed or pasted, or in photos of a worksheet or a class newsletter.
- Your photos: of the child, with the spot you tapped to show their face, of the real places in their day with the notes you write under them, of their little things, and of you if you choose.
- What else you want them to learn later, which we use only to choose what a show’s next movies are about.
- Your message to them, your name for the closing credit, the look you pick, your email and your phone number.
We read a worksheet or newsletter photo to learn what the class is learning, and we never draw it into the movie.
Answers saved as you go
We save your answers as you type them, from the first question, even if you never finish.
These saved answers never include your photos, your email, your phone number or an address.
With them we keep how you reached us: the campaign tags and ad click ids in the link, the page you landed on, the page that sent you, your browser’s name, and a coded form of your internet address, never the address itself.
When you pay
Stripe takes your payment, and we never see or keep your full card number.
Stripe tells us whether the payment went through, and keeps your card on file with Stripe so you can add an extra after paying with one tap.
Stripe receives your email, the name of the person the movie is for (it shows on your receipt), and the first names you give for extra envelopes.
When you pay in your account, it keeps your card’s brand and last four digits, to show you which card it is.
If you start a kids show, we keep the show you picked and your yes to its terms, with the time you gave it, and the card Stripe keeps on file pays the show’s bills.
Your account
When you pay for a movie, we make you an account at app.storybecomes.com under your email, where you watch your movie and send it.
In your account you can save the people you make movies for (their name, how you know them, their pronouns, their birth year and the dates that matter to them), keep their photos for next time, and write a premiere message.
If you send someone a link to add their birthday, what they type is saved to your account.
If you add people from a contacts file, your browser reads the file, and only the people you pick are sent to us.
When you buy a movie on our kids page, your account keeps the child’s details from your answers, so the next movies of a show can be made from them, and the list of what they should learn later.
When a kids show starts, we copy its first movie’s photos into your account and switch keeping photos on for the child, so each movie looks like them.
In your account you can pick what each movie of a show is about, add topics for later, and skip a movie.
Your own voice
If you buy the own-voice extra, we keep your recording, and your yes that it is your own voice with the time you gave it.
Why we use it
- To make your movie: our tools and the services below read your answers and photos to write, draw, voice and edit it.
- To run your order: to take payment, show you your movie, and help you when you write to us.
- To run a kids show: to choose and make each next movie, and to bill it.
- To email you about your orders and your account, and to reach you about your order.
- To text you about your order and your account, when you have agreed to texts.
- To assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns.
- To see where people stop while making a movie, so we can make it easier.
- To keep the site safe: to limit how many orders one connection can place in an hour, and to protect sign-ins.
Our team can see your orders, answers, photos and movies, to make them and check them.
We do not sell, rent, loan, trade, lease, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third party for profit.
We do not train any AI model ourselves.
Who helps us
Each of these services gets what it needs for its part of your movie or your order:
- Cloudflare runs our websites, stores your answers, photos, movies and account, sends our emails, and counts visits to our pages.
- Stripe takes payments and keeps your card on file.
- fal.ai receives your photos and descriptions of the story, to draw the pictures and make the video clips, sound effects and music.
- xAI receives your photos and descriptions of the story, to draw pictures.
- ElevenLabs reads the narration aloud, which can include names, and makes music. If you buy the own-voice extra, it receives your recording to make a copy of your voice for your movie.
- Anthropic’s Claude writes and checks your movie’s story, script and edit, reading your answers and photos.
- Tailscale connects our team’s tools to the computer that makes the movies.
- Google Fonts, jsDelivr and unpkg send our pages their fonts and scripts, so they see your internet address when your browser asks for them.
That sharing does not include your mobile information or text-message opt-in consent for marketing or promotional purposes.
Each service handles what we send it under its own terms.
Your movie and premiere pages
Your movie plays at a private link we give only to you.
Anyone you share that link with can watch it.
If you make a premiere page, anyone with its link can open it, and its poster, made from a photo you sent, shows as the picture when the link is shared.
If you give us the email of the person the movie is for, we email them the premiere at the moment you choose.
When a premiere is played to the end, we note it and tell you.
We never contact the person the movie is for unless you ask us to.
Emails
We email you only about your orders and your account: sign-in links, your free trailer if you leave before paying, your movie, your premieres, and reminders before the dates you save.
For a kids show, we also email you before each movie you have not picked to ask what it should be about, when it starts to say what it is about, and when the show needs your card.
You can switch reminders off in your account, and every reminder has a way to unsubscribe.
Text messages (SMS)
When you give us your phone number, you agree to get texts from Story Becomes about your order and your account.
Your privacy is extremely important to us.
We will only use the information you provide for text messages to transmit your mobile messages and respond to you, if necessary.
What we collect for texts: your phone number, your yes to get texts and the time you gave it, the texts we send you, and your replies.
We use them only to send you updates about your order and your account, like when your free trailer or your movie is ready, a change to your order, or help you asked us for.
We do not send marketing or promotional texts.
You understand that consent is not required to make any purchase from us.
You acknowledge that the message frequency varies and that consent is not a condition to purchase.
How many texts you get depends on your order, and message frequency varies.
Msg and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to stop our texts at any time, and we will send one text to confirm.
You understand and agree that the foregoing options are the only reasonable methods of opting out.
You understand and agree that attempting to opt out by texting other words or verbally requesting one of our team members to remove you from our list is not accounted for as a reasonable means of opting out.
If you reply STOP, we keep your number only so we do not text you again.
Reply HELP for help, or write to legal@storybecomes.com or team@storybecomes.com.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We will not share your mobile information or opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories, such as text messaging originator opt-in data and consent, will not be shared with third parties.
WE DO NOT SELL, RENT, LOAN, TRADE, LEASE, OR OTHERWISE TRANSFER FOR PROFIT ANY PHONE NUMBERS OR CUSTOMER INFORMATION COLLECTED THROUGH TEXT MESSAGES TO ANY THIRD PARTY.
Nonetheless, we reserve the right at all times to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any law, regulation, or governmental request, to avoid liability, or to protect our rights or property.
Cookies and your browser
We collect device information using the following technologies:
- Cookies: these are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier.
- Log files: these track actions occurring on the site and collect data such as your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
- Web beacons, tags, and pixels: these are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the site.
We use the device information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud, improve and optimize our site, and assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns.
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and how fast pages load, without cookies.
We do not set a Cloudflare bot or security cookie on storybecomes.com.
While you make a movie, your browser keeps a copy of your answers until you close the tab, and of your photos for a short while, so a reload does not lose them.
Your browser also keeps a random visitor number until you clear it, so you keep seeing the same version of a page or price we are trying out, and so we can tell which version works better.
app.storybecomes.com sets one cookie, which keeps you signed in for up to 30 days.
Stripe’s checkout page may set cookies of its own, under Stripe’s privacy policy.
Behavioral advertising and screen recording
We may use your personal information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications that we believe may be of interest to you.
We may at times use analytics tools that record how users interact with our website, such as mouse movements, scrolling, clicks, and page navigation.
These tools help us understand how visitors use our website and improve the user experience.
Information collected through these tools may be processed by third-party service providers who assist us in analyzing website usage and improving functionality.
These tools are designed to avoid collecting sensitive information such as payment details or passwords.
How long we keep it
We keep your answers, your photos and your movies until you ask us to delete them.
That includes answers saved from a visit that never became an order.
We keep your phone number and your yes to texts until you ask us to delete them.
To have them deleted, write to team@storybecomes.com.
We delete your photos, your answers and your movies, and write back when it is done.
Your own-voice recording, and the copy of your voice made from it, are deleted once your movie is finished.
The narration in your movie stays part of the movie.
Photos you keep in your account are deleted when you remove them or switch keeping off.
The child’s details your account keeps, and the list for later, are kept until you ask us to delete them, even after a show ends.
Records of sign-in attempts are deleted after a day.
Children
Many of our movies are about children.
A child’s photos and details come to us only from the adult making the movie, who promises in our Terms that they are the child’s parent or guardian, or have the parent’s or guardian’s permission.
A worksheet or class newsletter can show other children’s names, so send only pages you may share, and we use them only to teach to the class.
Story Becomes is for adults, and we do not knowingly take an order from anyone under 18.
If you think a child has sent us information, write to team@storybecomes.com and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, at team@storybecomes.com.
- Switch reminder emails off in your account.
- Reply STOP to any text from us, or HELP for help.
Changes
When we change this policy, the date at the top changes.

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access, correct, update, or delete the personal information we hold about you.

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 and The General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) allow California or European Union residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
